                                                                     HEALTHY EATING WEEK

Our school year kicked off with a Healthy Eating Week to encourage the children to eat more healthily. As well as learning about the Food Pyramid and the benefits of making healthy choices, the children got an opportunity to prepare and taste healthy dishes.

Local cook and author Lorna Tyther, tempted the 6th class children with recipes from her recently published book using wholefoods and herbs and vegetables grown in our school garden.

5th class went for the exotic and the aroma of chicken fajitas wafted around the school.

3rd class were delighted to invite our new Junior Infants to a 'Healthy Teddy Bears Picnic'.

First  and second class children were thrilled when Mighty Mikey Milk visited their classrooms with free milk for everyone.

Fibreman paid a surprise visit to the infant classes with fruit kebabs.

Other classes experimented with exciting combinations of fruit to make smoothies.

Let's hope we are all eating more healthily now!
